Monique Cohen

Monique D. Cohen, PhD, MPH, received a PhD in Health Policy and Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in December 2010.  Her dissertation, “The effect of race on rehabilitation utilization among stroke patients in North Carolina,” was a mixed methods study that examined racial differences in rehabilitative care received during acute hospitalization for stroke as well as racial differences in where stroke patients were discharged after their hospital stay.  Ms. Cohen was selected to attend the Summer Workshop on African American Aging Research in June 2010, which was sponsored by the University of Michigan.  Ms. Cohen co-authored an article, “Beyond diversity to inclusion: Recruitment and retention of diverse groups in Alzheimer research,” which was published in 2010.

Ms. Cohen's CPHAR mentor was Dr. Peggye Dilworth-Anderson.
