Monique Cohen

Monique D. Cohen, MPH, is a doctoral student in the department of Health Policy and Management at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She received her B.S. in Biobehavioral Health from The Pennsylvania State University and her MPH from the University of Maryland at College Park. While at UNC-Chapel Hill, she earned an Interdisciplinary Certificate in Health Disparities.

Ms. Cohen is interested in health disparities, community-based research, and organizational studies.  Her dissertation research focuses on racial disparities in stroke rehabilitation services among patients presenting at hospitals throughout North Carolina.  She is using a mixed-method approach that includes both quantitative analysis of data collected during the acute care process and qualitative analysis of interviews with hospitals across the state.

Ms. Cohen is currently working with her mentor, Dr. Peggye Dilworth-Anderson, to publish several manuscripts based on research projects she worked on as a graduate student.
