North Carolina Collaboration on Lifelong Learning & Engagement (NCCoLLE)This project is completed. This information is maintained for reference. The mission of the North Carolina Collaboration on Lifelong Learning and Engagement (NCCoLLE) was to foster the development of planning, policies and activities among partner organizations that support lifelong learning and civic engagement among older adults. In particular, the Collaboration explored ways in which the state’s public libraries can develop new resources, services and approaches to working with older adults to allow the growing number of baby boomers who are approaching retirement to continue to be vital contributors locally, nationally and globally. NCCoLLE was a designated Center of Excellence and Innovation in the Lifelong Access Initiative of Libraries for the Future (LFF), the first statewide initiative to receive this honor. The founding members of the Collaboration were the UNC Institute on Aging, the NC Division of Aging & Adult Services, the School of Information and Library Science at UNC Chapel Hill and the State Library of North Carolina.
