Lifelong Access Libraries Evaluation Project

This project is completed. This information is maintained for reference.

The UNC evaluation of the Lifelong Access Libraries Initiative was a collaboration between the UNC Institute on Aging and the UNC School of Information and Library Science. Lifelong Access Libraries was a national initiative of Libraries for the Future (formerly Americans for Libraries Council) supported by The Atlantic Philanthropies. Lifelong Access was a model for engaging active older adults that emphasized learning, social connections, life planning and community engagement. The UNC evaluation team examined facilitators and barriers to program and service implementation among the Centers of Excellence that were identified by Libraries for the Future and the effects of the Lifelong Access Libraries Training Institute on the fellows and their libraries.

The evaluation program was housed at the UNC Institute on Aging and led by Principal Investigator Joanne Gard Marshall, PhD.
