Save The Date For The 2011 Aging Exchange!Please join us for the 7th Annual Aging Exchange, an event dedicated to recognizing and promoting research in the field of aging at UNC-Chapel Hill. The Exchange will be held on Thursday, April 7th from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Friday Center, Chapel Hill. The UNC Institute on Aging, in collaboration with its co-sponsors, will host this event which is free and open to the public. UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical scholars, and faculty with an interest in aging are invited to submit abstracts for the event. For more information, including the call for posters and submission forms, see the Aging Exchange web page. 2011 NC Conference on Aging Set For CharlotteThe North Carolina Conference on Aging is scheduled for October 18-20, 2011 at the Hilton Charlotte University Place Hotel. This will be the 9th year for the Conference, which for the last decade has brought together hundreds of aging services providers, advocates, experts in aging, and senior citizens to address aging phenomena, issues, problems and solutions in our state. IOA Spring Seminar Series Schedule PostedAn ongoing series, the IOA Seminars generally have a research focus but reflect the Institute's commitment to linking research, education and service. They are open to all interested persons. The Spring 2011 seminars will take place on Mondays from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the UNC Institute on Aging, 720 MLK Jr. Blvd., 2nd floor, in Chapel Hill. View the schedule of speakers.NCAOA Aging Boot Camp, Annual Training ConferenceTwo North Carolina Association on Aging events are coming up in March and April. Aging Boot Camp will be held March 17 and 18 in Garner. The Annual Training Conference, themed "Building on the Blueprint", is scheduled for April 27-29 in Greensboro. Abstracts For National Aging Meetings Due In MarchThe call for abstracts for the 40th Annual Meeting of the American Aging Association, to be held in Raleigh, is now online. The submission deadline is March 14, 2011. NC Colleagues Share ExpertiseIOA Senior Research Scientist Victor Marshall, PhD gave the opening plenary address at the Canadian Association on Gerontology Scientific and Educational Meetings, held in Montreal on December 2, 2010. His topic was "Aging, Work and Retirement". IOA In The MediaBill Lamb, IOA Associate Director for Public Service, was quoted in the News & Observer in the article, "State Braces for Aging Boomers", on January 9, 2011. |
