NewsNCHAN Funding ExtendedThe North Carolina Healthy Aging Network (NCHAN) received a funding extension to continue for a third year. This latest funding for fiscal year 2003-2004 from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) extends what was originally a two-year project. Read more... IOA Research & Education Day PlannedThe Institute on Aging and partners are planning a research/education 1/2 day (~1:00 to 6:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, January 20th, in Chapel Hill in an effort to bring the aging research, training and education programs together. Students and faculty are encouraged to give presentations in the form of papers and/or posters. A Call for Presentations will be sent out the week of November 10th, and will also be posted on the Institute's website. Wake Agency Receives Award for Seniors' Physical ActivityResources for Seniors, Inc., a Wake County nonprofit organization, recently accepted an award from The National Council on the Aging, as one of the Top Ten Senior Physical Activity Programs in the Country. This award recognizes outstanding creative technical assistance in promoting the growth, development and expansion of Senior Centers and/or State Association of Senior Center Organizations.
