The hearing will be held on Tuesday, March 19 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Legislative Building Auditorium. CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT – GERIATRIC URINARY HEALTH The University of North Carolina School of Medicine and School of Nursing and the National Association for Continence are pleased to announce Bridging Research and Practice in Urinary Incontinence: A National Workshop for Exploring Innovations in Geriatric Urinary Health. Scheduled for April 4-5, 2002 in historic Charleston, South Carolina, this interactive case-based conference will provide administrators, researchers and clinicians an opportunity to come together and apply their expertise to problem solving issues in geriatric urinary healthcare. IOA DIRECTOR SAYS, “GO NORTH!” Institute on Aging Director Victor Marshall recommends the annual Canadian Association on Gerontology conference to you. The current president, Barry McPherson, who visited the Institute last fall, says he is hoping for extensive participation "from south of the Mason-Dixon line!" Montreal is one of the world's great cities. Prices are reasonable (AND the American dollar is currently worth about $1.62 Canadian!!) The conference is scheduled for October 24-26, 2002, and has a web site at http://www.cagacg.ca/english/conferences/call/rules.htm. GERONTOLOGY DEGREE PROGRAMS The IOA web site has available a new list of gerontology degree and certificate programs in North Carolina. The list is available at: http://www.aging.unc.edu/education/degreeprograms.html <<<<>>>> FEATURED WEB SITE: National archive of computerized data on aging http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/NACDA/ The National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (NACDA) acquires and preserves data sets from gerontological research. Three types of data sets are maintained on the site; free, password protected (users must be members the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research), and data where access depends upon the requirements of the data provider. The Data Analysis System is available for analyzing some data sets. This web site and others have been selected for inclusion in AGELIB, the Institute on Aging’s database of aging resources.
