Research Subjects Needed

Hearing Study
The purpose of this study is to obtain a better understanding of hearing.
Normal hearing listeners wanted to participate in a hearing study. Must have normal hearing and be between the ages of 65 and 75 years old. Listeners will be paid $10/hour. The study takes place in MacNider Hall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

This study has been reviewed and approved by the Biomedical Institutional Review Board. Principal Investigator John H. Grose, PhD 966-9777.

Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University
The goal of the research is to better understand how changes in memory, thinking, and other cognitive functions are linked with changes in brain function that occur normally during healthy aging. Chronic Pain
Women 45 years of age and older are asked to participate in a nursing research study investigating the effect of chronic pain on acoustic parameters of voice. Women with chronic knee pain (duration of 6 months or longer) and women with no musculoskeletal pain affected by sitting and standing will complete inventories and physical measurements (i.e., height, weight, vital signs). The sit-to-stand movement and vocal tasks will be audiotaped and videotaped. All participants must be able to: sit and stand independently (but can use assistive devices); speak, write, and read English and be able to come to the UNC School of Nursing. Parking can be arranged and evening and weekend sessions are welcomed. No blood draws or invasive procedures are involved. A snack and $30 are provided to those completing the 2 - 2 1/2 hour session. US Citizens Eligible For Postdoc Positions In Canada
The National Institute on Aging is sponsoring postdoctoral training in research on aging in Canada grants which are open to United States residents for the purpose of fostering collaboration between the two countries in identifying and developing postdoctoral-level investigators for careers in research on aging and health.
