Governor Perdue Declares NC Falls Prevention Awareness Week

Governor Beverly Perdue has issued a proclamation designating the week of September 19-24, 2011, as Falls Prevention Awareness Week in North Carolina. Nationally, a Falls Prevention Awareness Day will also be observed in over 40 other states on September 23, 2011.

The North Carolina Falls Prevention Coalition, of which the Institute on Aging is a founding partner, encourages its members and other concerned groups and individuals to plan to observe Falls Prevention Awareness Week or Day, using the resources of the National Council on Aging web site http://www.healthyagingprograms.org/content.asp?sectionid=149, and the Falls Prevention Center of Excellence at http://www.stopfalls.org/FPweek/coalitions.shtml.
