Medication Management Program to Precede NC Conference On Aging

September 25, 2006

Medication Management 101: What You Need to Know! What You Need to Do! will be held in the auditorium of the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Research Triangle Park from 12 noon to 4 pm on October 24, 2006. The program is free, but pre-registration is required. A detailed agenda and the registration form can be downloaded from http://www.aging.unc.edu/news/2006/medmanage101.pdf.

This program is designed for aging network personnel and other practitioners in health and human services who work with older adults. Participants will learn to identify components of safe and effective medication use in older adults as well as medications that may be problematic in this population; work with older adults to ensure adherence to medications and help them maintain accurate records of their medications; access appropriate resources for assisting seniors with medication therapy management and prescription assistance needs; and work with local community agencies and individuals to improve medication use and access for seniors.

Medication Management 101 is a collaborative effort among AARP North Carolina, the UNC School of Pharmacy, the UNC School of Medicine Program on Aging, and the Carolina Geriatric Education Center.
