News ReleaseRegistration Open for 2006 NCCOA ConferenceJune 23, 2006 The PreProgram & Registration booklet for the 2006 NCCOA conference which will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Research Triangle Park, October 25-27, is now available on the conference web site at: http://www.aging.unc.edu/nccoa. This year's Conference theme is "Boomers Turning 60—Implications For All of Us." Baby boomers will have the opportunity to redefine the meaning and purpose of their older years. As some of the demands of work and family that have commanded their attention in mid-life recede, boomers will have the potential to become a social resource of unprecedented proportions by actively participating in the life of their communities. Gordon H. DeFriese will present the Opening Plenary, and Joe and Terry Graedon of the People's Pharmacy will address attendees at the Closing Plenary. Conference tracks will include: Healthy Aging, Senior-Friendly Communities, Family and Intergenerational Relations, Gender, Race and Class, Elder Rights, and more. On Wednesday night during the Conference, the UNC Institute on Aging will host a celebration to recognize its 10th anniversary. Distinguished speakers, including Lieutenant Governor Beverly Perdue, have been invited to address the Conference attendees, and entertainment will also be provided. Also available for download on the Conference web site is the 2006 Sponsor, Exhibitor & Advertiser Information. Please consider supporting the Conference in one of these ways.
