2007 Senior Leaders Announced

April 6, 2006

The Senior Leadership Initiative Class of 2007 has been named. Particpants are Richard Bloom, Elizabeth Hansen, Peggy Conway, and Barbara Bryan. Richard Bloom is a retired IBM executive who was involved in the creation of the non-profit Coastal Federal Credit Union and is an active Senior Games participant. Elizabeth Hansen was the manager of the industrial training department of Square D and now serves on the state AARP Advocacy Council. Peggy Conway is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been actively involved in AARP's "Step up to Better Health" initiative. Barbara Bryan has been a journalist and homemaker and is currently working for an elder law firm developing in-house educational materials to staff senior and health-related seminars and conferences.

The Senior Leadership Enhancement Initiative is a program sponsored by the UNC Institute on Aging. This initiative recognizes the importance of older adult leadership in addressing issues affecting citizens and provides the support necessary to complement the skills and experiences brought by the participants to the program.
