Nominate Outstanding Individuals for DeFriese Awards

The UNC Institute on Aging is currently accepting nominations for the 2005-2006 Gordon H. Defriese Career Development in Aging Research Awards until March 13, 2006. These annual awards honor Dr. DeFriese's thirty-year distinguished career in the conduct and development of research to improve the quality of lives of older North Carolinians, and especially to his unwavering commitment to developing and supporting the careers of his colleagues.

The awards are given to one junior faculty/staff member and one doctoral student from UNC Chapel Hill who demonstrate outstanding promise and a commitment to aging research. Last year's awardees were Sharon Wallace Williams, PhD, Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences, Department of Allied Health Sciences, and Research Scientist, Center on Aging and Diversity, UNC Institute on Aging and Jean Munn, MSW, School of Social Work.
