University of North Carolina Institute on Aging CPHAR Program Announces Post-Doctoral Position

November 9, 2004

The Carolina Program in Healthcare and Aging Research (CPHAR) program, based at the Institute on Aging, announces an opening for a new postdoctoral fellowship position for the 2005 fiscal year (with anticipated renewal for a second funding year). Details about the program and application procedures are available on the CPHAR website (no longer available).

The anticipated start date for the position will be on or around July 1, 2005, but could be as early as May 1, 2005, or a few months later if necessary. The deadline for application is February 1, 2005, with a selection decision by mid-February.

The CPHAR Program draws on the extensive resources of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The special strengths of this training program include the ability to study health and aging issues of older adults in a research intensive, multidisciplinary academic setting in which you will find: a strong commitment to the life course perspective, extensive basic and applied research addressing aging in minority, diverse, and vulnerable populations; concerted research attention to aging in both rural and urban communities; and the strong commitment and track record of UNC Chapel Hill in the social and behavioral aspects of aging, health promotion/disease prevention, and health services research.

CPHAR faculty mentors represent a broad array of disciplines from the social, public health, and clinical sciences sectors of the university. The CPHAR program is supported by a National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Training Grant from the National Institute on Aging.

Potential applicants should contact the program director, Victor Marshall, as soon as possible for further guidance as to program expectations.
