Healthy Aging Network Receives Funding Extension

October 21, 2003

The North Carolina Healthy Aging Network (NCHAN) received a funding extension to continue for a third year. This latest funding for fiscal year 2003-2004 from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) extends what was originally a two-year project.

The NCHAN is a collaborative statewide effort to promote healthy aging, and it is part of a larger national network. The Institute on Aging and the Program on Aging, School of Medicine lead the NCHAN. Many other organizations across the state are members of the network, which focuses on health promotion for older adults and aging activities and partnerships.

This past summer, the NCHAN held a Healthy Aging Symposium, which brought together statewide interests and experiences with healthy aging. Presentation materials and handouts from the symposium are available online.

For more information on the network, visit the NCHAN web site.
