CPHAR Openings and Announcements

The Carolina Program in Healthcare and Aging Research (CPHAR) program, based at the Institute on Aging, announces a new opening for a post-doctoral fellowship position. The deadline for application is April 1, for a possible start date as early as May 1, 2003, but not later than September 30, 2003. For details about the program and application procedures, consult the CPHAR website (no longer available).

As previously announced, there is also one opening for a predoctoral fellowship position. The deadline for this application is March 25, with a possible start date as early as May 1, 2003 but not later than September 30, 2003.

In other news from the CPHAR program, Ishan Canty Williams, Ph.D., has just joined the program as its first post-doctoral fellow. Dr Williams is a native of Winston-Salem, NC. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received both her Masters degree and Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Dr. Williams' interest in aging include: African American older adults and their caregivers, emotional and physical well-being of caregivers, health disparities, informal and formal care systems, and cultural sensitivity in research.
