New training program for pre- and postdoctoral students

October 19, 2001

The Institute on Aging is pleased to announce the establishment of a new research training program for predoctoral and postdoctoral students. This program, known as the Carolina Program in Healthcare and Aging Research, will be based at the Institute on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is supported by a National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Training Grant from the National Institute on Aging.

The training program will prepare participants for careers in aging and healthcare research. A special strength of the program is the ability for participants to study problems of older adults living in rural communities, particularly involving communities of minority elders. Participants will also benefit from the strong committment of UNC Chapel Hill to health services research and health promotion/disease prevention.
