NC Healthy Aging Network established

October 05, 2001

A North Carolina Healthy Aging Network has been established to address the issue of healthy aging among older adults in the state. This network is the result of the Institute on Aging's successful application to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The Institute on Aging and the Program on Aging of the UNC School of Medicine will spearhead the project.

In collaboration with the CDC and other members of the national Healthy Aging Network, the North Carolina group will identify clear goals, strategies and action plans to foster research relative to healthy aging, and to effectively disseminate information about healthy aging to various service and consumer constituencies. The network will contribute to the national agenda while also addressing state-specific challenges in public health and aging.
