Good News for NC Colleagues

May 25, 2001

Several North Carolinians have recently been recognized for their work in aging. The Institute on Aging would like to congratulate the following people.

Jenifer Hamil-Luker, UNC Chapel Hill Department of Sociology, received an AARP Andrus Foundation Dissertation Fellowship from the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.

Pam King, Chatham County Council on Aging, received Supervisor of the Year for Management Execllence from the NC Association on Aging.

Charlotte Miller, Senior Services Inc., received Employee of the Year for Service Excellence from the NC Association on Aging.

Dennis Streets, NC Division of Aging, received Executive of the Year for Leadership Excellence from the NC Association on Aging.

Also, Shannon S. Currey and R. Tamara Hodlewsky were just announced as the 2001 Gordon H. Defriese Career Development in Aging Research Award winners from the Institute on Aging (read the news release).
