UNC Student Wins Award

Joe Sharkey, PhD student in Nutrition at UNC Chapel Hill, recently learned that he will receive the Office of Rural Health Policy Research Award from the Gerontological Health Section of American Public Health Association (APHA) at their Fall 2000 meeting. The award is based on his paper reporting on his study of nutritional risk among older, rural adults in North Carolina. That study was funded by an IOA Exploratory Grant in 1998-1999. Additionally, Joe's paper was accepted for oral paper presentation at the APHA meeting. Congratulations, Joe!
