Associate Director for Public Service Selected

The Institute on Aging is pleased to announce the appointment of William Lamb to the position of Associate Director for Public Service, effective July 1, 2000. The new position of Associate Director for Public Service is responsible for advocacy, coordination, and development of the small- and large-scale, multidisciplinary service projects sponsored by the Institute at the local, regional or state level; overseeing the long-range and strategic planning for the Institute's public service initiatives, including coordination of all service-related grant applications; and expanding and coordinating the public service components of the Institute's clearinghouse and internet services to be responsive to services programs, policy-makers, and the academic and consumer communities.

Bill brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in state and federal aging services regulations, program policy and standards development, service planning, and case management for older adults. A veteran of 30 years of public service experience in North Carolina at the local and state levels, Bill has 17 years of administrative experience planning and coordinating aging services, both at the NC Division of Aging and the NC Division of Social Services. He also has extensive experience working with the private aging services sector as well as foundations, federal and state agencies, and consumer and professional associations. Bill has a Master's Degree in Social Work and a Master's Degree in Public Administration, and has the distinction of receiving his undergraduate and graduate degrees from three of the major universities in the state: Wake Forest University, UNC at
Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University. We welcome Bill to the Institute!
