Carol Woods Community Grant Awarded to UNC Institute on Aging

Carol Woods Retirement Community presented its annual community grant checks Tuesday, December 14th, in the Carol Woods Social Lounge.

Carol Giuliani, Professor of Allied Health Sciences, and Victor Marshall, Director of UNC's Institute on Aging are pictured above, receiving a grant awarded to the Institute to fund the development of an intervention strategy to improve the health care status and physical functioning of economically disadvantaged older adults living in Durham's public housing. The grant will be directed by Professor Giuliani and Dr. Jan Busby-Whitehead, IOA Associate Director for Clinical Services.

Other local community service agencies receiving grant awards this year include: Caregiver Outreach Program; Chapel Hill Training Outreach Project Quilting Circle; and Hurricane Floyd Disaster Relief Fund.

Past recipients include: Charles House; Habitat for Humanity of Orange County; A Helping Hand; and the Interfaith Council for Social Services.
