What degrees or courses does the Consortium offer? The Consortium does not offer educational credentials (degrees); these are the responsibility of the member institutions. The Consortium does approve courses offered by member institutions, and works to simplify registration procedures, credit transfers, and other issues. This makes it easier for students at one member campus to take courses offered by another member campus. A list of courses approved by the Consortium is available on our Courses Available page. The list is short now, but will expand as the Consortium gets going and more institutions prepare their courses for distance delivery. How do I register for a course? These procedures are still being worked out, and may vary from campus to campus. For help registering now, you should contact:
How can I offer my course through the Consortium?Faculty interested in offering a course through the Consortium should contact the Chair of the Consortium Coordinating Committee for more information. Can my institution join the Consortium? Please contact the Chair of the Consortium Coordinating Committee if you are interested in institutional membership. Institutional membership is open to these North Carolina institutions: UNC system schools, private universities and colleges, community colleges, governmental agencies and organizations providing services to older adults. UNC system institutions may join by submitting a signed "Request for Authorization to Participate in an Inter-Institutional Arrangement" (Appendix J of Administrative Memorandum 407) to the UNC Office of the President. Other organizations may join through a letter of application, signed by the chief administrative officer, to the Consortium Coordinating Committee. Other requirements for membership are explained in the Code of Operation. |
