The role of age in the perceptions of politics--job performance relationship: a three-study constructive replication. J Appl Psychol. 2005 Sep;90(5):872-81. Men Who Work at Age 70 or Older Martha N Ozawa, Terry Y. Lum Journal of Gerontological Social Work Volume 45, Issue 4 http://www.haworthpress.com/store/ArticleAbstract.asp?ID=59619 The federal policy on older workers has shifted from the encouragement of early withdrawal from the labor force to the encouragement of continuous participation in the labor force. In this light, it is instructive to investigate the backgrounds of elderly people who work at age 70 or older. This article presents the findings of a study, using data from the 1993 Asset and Health Dynamics of the Oldest Old Study, that investigated the effects of health, economic conditions (net worth, employer-provided pensions, and supplemental medical insurance coverage), education, and spouse's work status on the probability of working among men aged 70 or older. The study addressed the probability of working, the probability of working fulltime and of working part-time, and the probability of being self-employed and of being employed by others. Implications for policy are discussed. HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE AND REEMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES AMONG OLDER DISPLACED WORKERS Emily Y. Lin Contemp. Econ. Policy published 17 August 2005, 10.1093/cep/byi039 http://cep.oxfordjournals.org//cgi/content/abstract/byi039v1?ct This article investigates the relationship between health insurance coverage and employment behavior among older workers with an involuntary job loss. It finds that various sources of health insurance are available to mitigate the circumstances where employer-sponsored health insurance is terminated when older workers lose jobs involuntarily. However, older displaced workers remain less likely to be insured than comparable nondisplaced workers by 7.6 percentage points one year after the job loss. The analysis also reveals that having secure health coverage before job displacement is associated with lower probabilities of reemployment and longer postdisplacement nonemployment spells. --REPORTS-- Addressing the challenges of an aging workforce: A human capital perspective for companies operating in Europe IBM Institute for Business Value study by: Eric Lesser, Carsten Hausmann and Steffen Feuerpeil http://www-1.ibm.com/services/us/index.wss/ibvstudy/bcs/a1009193?cntxt=a1005263 --NEWS-- Labor groups, companies join forces for aging work force MetroWest Daily News - Framingham,MA,USA Gayle MacDonald of Waltham is 58 and looking for work as a computer applications trainer. ... http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/businessNews/view.bg?articleid=109316 Two Massachusetts employers excel for aging work force Medfield Press - Needham,MA,USA Two Massachusetts employers excel for the aging work force, according to AARP. ...
