Community Advisory Board
About the Community Advisory Board
The board, which meets monthly, includes eighteen prominent members most
of whom live in the Durham, NC community. The Board advises the Center
on which communities to hold seminars or information sharing and gathering
meetings; some members of the Board assist with selecting pilot investigators
for future studies. The Board also helps researchers identify needed areas
of research in their communities, helps researchers identify, gain and
maintain access to samples of elders for their research projects, and
provides on-going strategies for building community relations to enhance
research in the older African American community.
