Sharon W. Williams, Ph.D.

Research Scientist

Dr. Sharon Wallace Williams is a research scientist with the Center on Aging and Diversity and an assistant professor in The Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Williams received a BS and MS in Communication Disorders and a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies. She completed a gerontology postdoctoral fellowship at The Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Her research focuses broadly on aging and the family, with issues of caregiving, social support, and minority health at the forefront. Current research funding extends her research to include end of life experiences of older adults and family caregivers. Her work has appeared in The Journals of Gerontology, The Gerontologist, Aging and Mental Health, and Family Relations.
