Lloyd J. Edwards, Ph.D.

Senior Research Scientist, and Head, Statistical Support Unit

Lloyd J. Edwards, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a bachelors’ degree in Mathematics from Morehouse College in 1980, a masters in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Maryland - College Park in 1982, and a Ph.D. in Biostatistics in 1990 from UNC. He has an extensive background in collaborating with subject-specific researchers in a broad range of areas in biomedical research. He has been the principal investigator of research projects funded by the National Institute of Health, National Centers for Health Statistics, and private industrial organizations. Currently, he is the Program Director of a National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute training program in Statistical Aspects of Cardiovascular Disease Clinical Trials. His statistical research interests include mixed model theory and application, longitudinal data analysis, measurement error models, and the design and analysis of clinical trials.
