Jan Busby-Whitehead, MD

Associate Director for Clinical Affairs
Co-Director, Carolina Program for Healthcare and Aging Research

Dr. Busby-Whitehead, MD, is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Aging and Health in the UNC School of Medicine. She is also the Associate Director for Clinical Practice for the UNC Institute on Aging, Medical Director of the Carol Woods Retirement Community, Director of the UNC Hospitals Continence Clinic, and the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Director. A fellowship-trained geriatrician, she is board certified in internal medicine, and has the certificate of special competency in geriatric medicine. She is active in the American Geriatrics Society (a current Board member), and has extensive background in the development of clinical and educational programs in geriatric medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1977 and was the first fellow in Geriatric Medicine in Gainsville (1980-1982).
